This is a really nice watch that I did a “paid Promotion” on my channel on YouTube. I found this company online and liked their product and explained about my hobby interests and that I have a channel dedicated to watch repair and how I really liked their concept. They returned my email and asked if I would like to review their product. I agreed and was allowed to pick which watch I wanted.

DIY watch club has a comprehensive range of watches to choose from. The come in a kit form meaning you have to build yourself. This might sound daunting at first to someone who has never picked up a pair of tweezers but its actually good fun and they offer excellent video tuition on how to build the watch. Kit also provides all tools necessary. Ideal gift or for someone with an interest in watches who would like to get into this hobby. You can literally pick the dial you want, case design, hands and a selection of straps. Meaning you can end up with something quite unique.

I chose the diver style watch as I thought this would be the most popular sold and a design that many would like.

Due to the review I was offered to chose an additional dial of my choosing along with an orange second hand. They offer laser etching (for a price) to etch whatever you would like on the watch rotor so the customer could personalise their watch even further. I had My Retro Watches etched.

The watch is powered by the ultra reliable Seiko NH35 movement which is a very decent workhorse movement. 24 jewel, hand winding and hacking and accurate usually out of the box to within 10 seconds a day.

The package arrived and I filmed from unboxing to the finished watch. You can view the video here.

As you can see you don’t actually build the movement as this would be too tricky for a beginner. You fit the dial and hands, the second and will be the trickiest for everyone for sure. You also fit the stem , movement ring, chapter ring and the bezel insert. This is enough to keep anyone busy for a few hours. All for just over £200!

What I really like about the concept is the DIY aspect. They have put allot of thought into their products and in my opinion have covered all aspects from the tool kit to the choice of product for their customers to complete the build of their watch and truly enjoy the experience. This then might lead into more of an interest in this hobby which to me is the most important part.

Here you get a kit that will make a nice personalised watch that you will be pleased with. The success of making a watch may then inspire you to learn more and put the tools you have obtained in the kit to good use on another project.

Please take a look at their website and see for yourself what you can buy. https://shop.diywatch.club/?ref=-mz51sVAwui4c
