This is one of the few brand new watches I own, purchased in March 2021 on AliExpress for around £80 UK delivered.
This is a very good homage to the iconic Seiko 6015 from the 70s that was nicknamed the Captain Willard from Apocalypse Now movie. Martin Sheen played Capt. Willard and wore this Seiko. This model has then gone down in history and to get an original in good condition will cost you several thousand Dollars! Seiko did reissue it a few years ago for a limited run and even those go for £1000.00
So The Chinese brand Steeldive (also has other names) have made a copy. The case is solid stainless and is a heft of a case. We get a ceramic bezel and sapphire crystal too. Watch is powered by a Seiko NH35 which is an unbranded Seiko movement but its a good and reliable movement with hacking and hand winding.
This one has the upgraded bracelet, the older ones had terrible overhang on the end links whereas this newer version this has been addressed and put right.
You can get them in different dial colours and with or without the Steeldive logo. I have seen many guys buy these and retrofit a Seiko dial to them to make them look like the real deal. I have chosen not to do this as I feel its cheating plus I dont really mind the Steeldive logo.
Its a big case but as its a cushion case it sits really comfortable on the wrist and with the dial and bezel it wears smaller than it is. I love the way the case integrates the crown guard and of course the large screw down crown.
Next is the lume shot. Lume on this is great. It is in two colours which I actually like although I know it annoys some people.
what more can I say about this one. That iconic Seiko look for so little money. In my opinion this is one of the best watches for the price money can buy. Its well made, solid and has sapphire plus a good movement. Okay its pretending to be something its not but the likelihood of me ever owning a genuine 6105 is remote. I have worked on a few 6105 movements they are nice but only offer day/ date, no hacking or hand winding. Also at least the Steeldive is powered by Seiko which in some ways is ironic.
