Here is another project watch complete. This lovely little Titus! came to me as a complete non runner (which is how I like them) I decided to feature this one on my YouTube channel as this watch housed what looked to be a beautiful ETA movement. I seemingly are attracted to gold / bronze coloured movements and this one was glinting in the light inviting me in!
I set the camera up and film started rolling. Within 5 minutes of removing the auto wind works I found out why it was a non runner… Hairpring was no longer a hair spring and more like a twisted mess of wire.

This spring was not only out of centricity but also bent upward and downwards on some coils. I tried in vain to return it to normal but my attempt failed. I do not have the skill required to tackle such a mess.
I hit my Facebook group and eBay for help in finding a donor. One turned up by way of a very good friend, a professional watchmaker and my mentor Mr Simon Coope.
This ETA movement threw everything at me, some parts were easy and straightforward but the date complication was, well, complicated. I could not figure out how to remove it and then when I did I had the same trouble fitting it. So if you are reading this looking for a solution to the same issue then please watch me struggle in my video but finally finding a solution on how to remove and fit this complication. (link below)
In the end the ETA2472 fought me well, got me frustrated at times but I came out victorious in the end. I am very stubborn and wont be beaten by these little machines!
See my photos below of the watch and here is the YouTube link to the video.
