This watch was sent in for review by Baltany watches. I have handled a few of their watches now and always pleased with the quality especially for the prices they sell for.
They get all of their inspiration from watches of the past, usually military or 1920-1940s. This one is the first I’ve seen from a later era. This is based on the Rolex Explorer with a twist of having this tropical brown dial. There is a black dial on offer but for me this brown one is the winner.
Watch is a 36mm case which for some is too small but as a man that loves vintage 36mm for me is almost perfect. I will wear 30mm to 45mm but 36-38 is the sweet spot.
Depending on what light you are in will dictate the colour the dial produces as you can see by the following pictures.
Overall its a very affordable watch as of writing this blog its $170 USD but you can find discounts for their site plus there is always AliExpress. I will leave links to both shortly.
It is powered by the forever used and reliable Seiko NH38. Baltany choose the movement for the watch which is nice to see. MOst microbrands use NH35s which are a date complication and when they do a no date watch you end up with a ghost position on the crown which can catch you out on occasion.
Overall I think this is a brilliant little watch and with the added reliability of a modern movement and gaskets you can be assured of years of pain free use and waterproofing. Vintage looks and modern reliability.
