I had to post this one onto the site a recent pickup from Japan. Its a much more modern watch from the 90s I think but it looks as mad as a box of frogs.

Came to me like this with no bracelet and it was not working. I just liked the square shape and bright yellow dial. These actually seem quite a popular watch when I look on eBay and see many have sold.
I had to match the bracelet though so doing a bit of detective work as it has a very specific style. I found the bracelet to be the same style as on these digital AKA watches.

A bit more digging and I found both watches to have the same lug width so off I went to look for the digital version which I know from experience are usually cheap in japan as they fail beyond repair and people try to sell them as projects. I found one in good condition and paid around £17.00 for it.
Next was the movement, its quartz but what sort an what could be wrong with it? Opening the case back I was greeted with this….

Not much of a looker is it?? One of those very cheap basic quartz no jewel movement, will be Seiko or Alba but even so…. I change the battery and nothing happens so remove the movement from the case and looking at the dial I nudge the second hand with tweezers. It tries to tick but seems obstructed. I then move the second hand a few seconds backwards and off she goes! (And not stopped since.)
Watch turned out alright in the end. Crystal is faceted and with hardly a mark on it. I am really enjoying the bold design of this one.

On the wrist. From all angles!
