So here we have a rather chunky Seiko powered by the 7S36 movement which is a slightly upgraded 7S26 by way of 2 more jewels on a plate. I bought this from an eBay seller in the Philippines as it was less than $20 US delivered to me here in UK. On arrival the inspection was clear that the movement had potential but would need a new hairspring in order to run again. The PVD coating was wearing thin in places but still wearable, maybe as a work watch rather than anything more. I set about servicing the movement, found a donor balance from my parts bin and soon it was back up and running. Cleaned the case, bezel and bracelet in the ultrasonic machine before popping out the scratched crystal and purchasing a new generic one for around £3! nice easy friction fit. New crystals always make the watch come back to life.
I don’t expect this one to get much wear but it was an interesting project whilst working on it.
