Here we have yet another Seiko 6119-5431. I think I own 3 of these now, I just love the 70s styling on them. This was another watch fair find in Birmingham UK in November 2021. I paid a whopping £20.00 and the watch was even working. I just could not leave it there. I did originally have plans to remove the gold plating from the bracelet to reveal the stainless steel underneath so I could re-finish that and use it on my first 6119-5431. My stainless version of this watch was the first ever watch I restored back in 2017 so it already has sentimental value.

I have, for now at least, decided to leave it as it is. The gold is really faded and chipped in places but it still has a charm all of its own. The head of the watch is also in remarkable condition so it would be a shame to scrap it just for the bracelet. Watch dates to June 1972 which is 3 months off being a birth year / birth month watch.

I love these £20.00 finds as it always shows you that you can get some interesting stuff even at the bottom of the barrel.
