Well here it is. My Chinese Tourbillon. By no means a masterpiece but a little marvel at what can be achieved by Chinese mass production at a price a fraction of the nearest Swiss Tourbillon.
As my YouTube channel grows I get asked more often by companies if I would review their watches. I do find this flattering but believe me I refuse far more than I take on. I know they are just using me for my audience but for some watches I cant refuse as I want to see the piece for myself and I have a growing interest in reviewing as much as my restorations.
This tourbillon was sent to me by AliExpress for review in one of their many yearly sales. I was allowed to choose from a list and this was on it so I just had to see for myself and review for everyone else. To examine the quality and accuracy. This model at the time of the review was $500, not a bad price but equally I have seen other models for half of this.

I have now owned this watch for 3 months (April 2022) and whilst I change my watches almost daily this one has seen some wrist action. I enjoy wearing it and find watching the tourbillon cage absolutely fascinating, the watch keeps very good time but I just wish the case was a few millimetres smaller than this 42mm case.
I think that if you collect watches or have an interest in mechanical watches then adding a Chinese tourbillion to your collection is worthwhile, unless of course you can afford a hand made Swiss version.
The irony in this complication that people go crazy for is that it really holds no practical purpose on a wristwatch given it was designed to solve a timing problem caused by gravity on a pocket watch.
I just like the engineering and the aesthetic of watching it.
