This is a blog post to accompany a giveaway video series on my YouTube channel. I had acquired two of the same watch over a course of around 5 months. The first I bought as I liked the minimalist look and wanted to add it to my collection. The other popped up in a joblot on eBay and a cheeky bid secured the auction. In total I paid £70 for the two.
I decided to give one away to a lucky subscriber to my channel after filming a restoration of the watch. I thought it would be more interesting to film both watches side by side and could be a challenge to do this.
What I found was that the watches were ever so slightly different on the dial and they also had different movements! research showed that this was because the watches were at least a decade older than one another.
The nicer of the two watches had a gold coloured movement which is a SGT 233-68-21, this would be the giveaway watch. The other watch has a Peseux 320 movement. Both I believe are French movements and very similar in design and function.

I would recommend that you watch the videos to see the full stripdown and assembly of these movements. Here is a shot of the movements all laid out in pieces.

The movements themselves are not all that complicated and typical of a hand wind watch of the era. nether the less still a pleasure to work on movements I have not done before as it all adds to my learning curve. The more I do the move I learn.
Here are the links to the videos in the series.
The watches went back together well. My watch had a chipped pallet fork jewel but unbelievably it still managed to run and keep time!
A subscriber called Brain M was the winner. He is living in Istanbul in Turkey, I posted the watch to him and he has received and loves it. His wife also wants to wear it so all in all its a good result and I am very happy the watch found a good home. He has promised to show me photos of the watch in and around some famous landmarks so as they come though I will add them to this blog.
Here are the movement running in slow motion.
