Here is another example of a retro LED and again a very futuristic look. I bought this one with the seller advertising “may need a battery change”. Learnt my lesson. When I opened the caseback I was met with a corroded module and two batteries probably dating from the 70s. So the module is a complete write off.
This was another LED that I had to find a donor module but as this module was a National Semiconductor module (found in many LED brands) it did not take me very long. A simple module swap and now it glows red finally. weirdly no colon or full stop to separate hours and minutes.
A few years have passed and I decided to attempt to repaint the print on the crystal. Trafalgar signed logo and Digital. I bought some enamel model paint that was silver in colour. Painted over the lettering that is sunk into the crystal and then wiped off the excess with a tissue with some acetone. This revelled the lettering once again. It worked allot better than I thought it would.
