This watch was sent in by WR Watches for a review on YouTube. Ironwatch is a new microbrand being produced in China. At first when they contacted me I was not so sure. I could not decide because I did not like the name and the watch looked a bit like a homage to a very well known brand. However I did like the dial colours available.
After a few days my curiosity got the better of me and I decided that I had to see it in person. At this point in time I am still new to watch reviews but I am finding them interesting to do and a break from my repair videos. It is interesting to see new watches and micro brands and I feel I have handled enough watches over the years to be a good enough judge of what is put in front of me.
The Ironwatch arrived a few weeks later in a fairly no descript box but don’t judge a book by its cover. My initial opinion was the watch is very nice, very well proportioned with a case size of 37mm. This is refreshing to see as most modern watches I have seen are 40-45mm! Bracelet is solid link stainless steel with screw pins for link removal. Very pleased to see this.
Crystal is sapphire and it also has a display back that is also sapphire. This is unusual in my opinion but great to see they have not tried to cheapen the production. What is great is the movement. Its a Miyota 9015, now some people frown at miyota for being cheap and not exciting but to me this is no a fair view. This movement is a high beat at 28,800 BPH. What is good about this movement is that its also thin being under 4mm in thickness which means the case can be thinner. As this is a dress watch then the thinner the better to fit nicely under the cuff.
If I have one criticism is the 9015 movement is a date function movement which has been ghosted so you have a pull on the crown which does not do anything.

Overall I am impressed with this watch. Its vintage looks, good build quality and a reliable movement make it worth its price of around £230.00 My only criticism is the brand name on the dial should not be there! its too big and loud for a dress watch. Had it been an applied logo it would have given it more faience. I will say that for the brands first watch this is a good start and if they listen to comments in reviews and videos they could have a winning formula in the future.
