So here is a little known Swiss brand but an important one especially in the retro world as they did make a few very desirable models. Founded in 1959 This brand typically made mechanical watches and later would produce some quartz models one of which was a digital watch called the Spacesonic. To this day that watch is my grail digital as it has very strong design that is Star Wars inspired.
I found this model languishing in a assorted box of watches at the last watch fair in Birmingham in 2021. I didn’t initially know it was a Catena and thought it might have been another Timex as both of these watches have a look of the Omega Dynamic.
As you can see its a bit rough around the edges but still an attractive and retro looking watch. It is powered by an AS2066 movement which is Swiss and a 21,600 VPH movement which was made from 1969-78 so this can give a (Very) approximate date of the watch.
I have still to service this one. I like AS movements but this one has an autoworks plate like my Invicta which was a real pain to put together so for now I am leaving this one alone. It runs absolutely fine.
One thing I will say is the caseback gasket is like treacle! usually gaskets go hard over time but this one has done the opposite so if nothing else I should clean this one up.
Not bad though for £35.00 as its a rare example and with its original bracelet.
